MARTIN LIM shines at World MasterCard™ Fashion Week as the 2011 season

of Mercedes-Benz Start Up culminates and 2012 season prepares to kick off

March 24th, 2012 — Toronto ON — Toronto was a buzz last night as MARTIN LIM took the runway by storm at World MasterCard™ Fashion Week. The first recipient of the Mercedes-Benz Start Up program recieved much acclaim in the weeks leading up to the event, and MARTIN LIM's highly anticipated solo show proved to be an exciting and climactic end to the inaugural Mercedes-Benz Start Up season.

"Showing our Fall 2012 Collection at World MasterCard™ Fashion Week was an honour that took an incredible amount of work from many different constituents," says Danielle Martin and Pao Lim, designers of MARTIN LIM. "The entire Mercedes-Benz Start Up team, the expert show producers and stylists we worked with and of course, the mentors who have helped us build this collection and refine our business skills were instrumental in the show's success. We look forward to continuing the momentum and taking our business to the next level."

Last night, the runway in the tents at David Pecaut Square was filled with top editors, buyers, stylists and VIPs. The crowd was awestruck by the MARTIN LIM collection, which was inspired by contemporary artists and references from the sixties. Bernadette Mora, Editor-in-Chief of FASHION Magazine said, "With their first full show in Toronto, Danielle and Pao have proven that they are a hot new label on the Canadian fashion scene. Their collection showed a maturity that we don't often see in a new label. Their car wash panels, exaggerated back-draping, leather T-shirts and brocade jackets with spliced hems demonstrated a knack for both tailoring and draping - a clear reflection of their schooling at London's Central Saint Martins and their time spent working in Paris. We at FASHION will definitely be keeping our eye on this talented team."

World MasterCard™ Fashion Week will also continue to see participants from the 2011 Mercedes-Benz Start Up season, with finalists TRIARCHY and TRAVIS TADDEO presenting their respective collections as well. TRIARCHY will take the spotlight on March 15th at 4:00 pm in the Studio, and TRAVIS TADDEO will show his Fall 2012 Collection on March 16th at 5:00pm in the Studio.
